The brace bars are used to provide additional solidity to larger canvases and, in particular for canvases which are especially long and narrow.
The length, indicated in the article description refers to the size of the stretcher bar for which the traverse is needed, but in fact the length of the brace bars is less than a few centimetres.
For this series, the traverse is lower than 8,4 cm with respect to the stretcher bar (example: for the 30 cm side the traverse is 21,6 cm long).
