Metallic colours are part of the IDEA line which includes a number of colours and items for hobby manufactured by Maimeri.
Metallic colours reproduce the effects of precious metals and are often used as an alternative to gilding. The entire set is made of 9 colours, available in 60 ml bottles, equipped with a dosage cap, and a bottle of thinner. Colors are mixable and adhere on any surface except fabrics. Colours remain a little bit opaque when applied on absorbent and porous surfaces like wood, paper and so on. In this case, to make colours brighter it is possible to give a coat of the same colourless varnish used for cold ceramics.
Shake the bottles very well before using the colours for metal pigments tend to deposit on the bottom. It is possible to dilute colours with the proper thinner. Anyway it is better not to dilute them unless the bottle has been left open or has not been used for a long time. If diluted too much the metal pigments will loose their concentration. The thinner is to be used mostly in order to clean the brushes employed.
Colours dry up in about one hour. In the end, colours do not look bright but satined. After 24 hours it is possible to give a coat of varnish (like the varnish used for cold ceramics colours) in order to make the colours brighter and to fix them strongly to the surface.
